Installations – Private and via ECO4 Scheme

With the cost-of-living crisis affecting most households there’s never seemed a more pertinent time to try and save money by somehow reducing heating bills. Installing insulation measures can help achieve this.

Alliance Energy Solutions can install single and multiple insulation measures via private requests or as part of ECO4 Scheme qualifiers.

Below is a list of the qualifying benefits/allowances for ECO4 Scheme. Please note that these have changed from those qualifying benefits/allowances for ECO3 Scheme

  • Child Tax Credits (CTC)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Income Related Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Income Support (IS)
  • Pension Credit Guarantee
  • Pension Credit Savings
  • Universal Credit (UC)
  • Working Tax Credit (WTC)

Installations – via LA Flex and LAD3 Schemes

If you don’t qualify for insulation measures via ECO4 Scheme, then a couple of additional avenues available are via LA Flex and LAD3 Schemes.

LA Flex

‘Local Authority Flexibility’ widens the net for eligibility purposes.

There are several qualifying criteria categories but to simplify, in the first instance, if your household income is less than £30k per annum (including housing costs) then it as advisable to ‘ENQUIRE NOW’.

LAD3 – Local Authority Delivery

Now in its 3rd Phase this Scheme sees local authorities improving the energy efficiency of low-income households whilst also phasing out dependence on high fossil fuel heating, this in line with UK Governments commitment to net-zero by 2050.

Again, it’s advisable to ‘ENQUIRE NOW’ as;

  • Up to £10k worth of home efficiency measures may be available for eligible homeowners
  • Up to £5k worth of home efficiency measures may be available to tenants of Social and Private Landlords (although Private Landlords may be required to contribute)

Eligibility is available for those households with an annual income of less than £30k and with an EPC rating of E, F or G. For those eligible homeowners whose property EPC rating is D, then a 50% cap is applied.

Cavity Wall – CWI

Our installers use the Climabead cavity wall insulation system by Evobead; with fewer drill holes required, the system is quicker and cleaner to install, and has less visual impact on the property.

For semi-detached and terraced properties Party Wall Insulation can also be installed. This can reduce noise between houses, keep the home even warmer, and save more money on your energy bills.

External Wall – EWI

With over a third of the energy required to heat a property escaping through the external walls of a property, External Wall Insulation (also known as Solid Wall Insulation/ Insulated Render System) can be the solution for ‘hard to heat’ homes.

The government’s ECO4 report shows a specific interest in insulating solid walls – aiming to carry out 22,000 solid wall insulation instalments each year.

Solid walls – used especially for homes built in the early 1900’s -tend to lose double the heat through un-insulated walls and with no cavity to inject insulation into it, this makes them difficult to heat homes.

Internal Wall – IWI

Internal Wall Insulation is a proven option when looking to improve the energy efficiency of your property and can be carried out on retrofit, new build, and commercial properties. Reduction in fuel bills, CO2 emissions and in risk of condensation and mould growth, allied to increased thermal comfort are the added benefits gained.

Loft Insulation – LI

One of the major directives of ECO4 is to ensure any qualifying building is improved with insulation measures before any heating measure such as Boiler or Air Source Heat Pump is installed – this is known as taking a fabric-first approach.

It’s suggested that loft insulation can save you anywhere from £120 to £280 on your energy bills every year (depending on the property type) and allied to this, the carbon footprint of your household is reduced and therefore so are CO2 emissions.

Underfloor Insulation – UFI

If your property has suspended floors and cellar heads, then you could be experiencing almost 15% of heat loss.

We install excellent products by SWIP and COSiFLOOR to counter this and ensure the energy efficiency of your property is maximised.
